Angry Birds Dream Blast is a puzzle game from Rovio Entertainment Oy that takes the Angry Birds name in a very different direction. Instead of slinging birds at pigs, you are popping bubbles on a grid. It is a pure mobile game, so you will not find it on Steam, Xbox, or Switch. It launched back in 2019 and is available on both the Google Play Store and the App Store. Since then it has racked up over 100 million installs on Android alone. The download is free, and you can install it in seconds. There are in-app purchases, mostly for coins and boosters, and they range from a couple of dollars up to around 20 dollars for bigger bundles. There are also ads, but they are optional and mostly tied to rewards.

Playing it is simple. You tap groups of two or more same-colored bubbles to clear them, and that fills up a dream bubble meter. Once that meter is full, you get a big dream bubble that clears a chunk of the board. The best part for me is how the levels are built around chain reactions. A single well-placed tap can set off a huge cascade, and watching the whole board pop is genuinely satisfying. My favorite thing is the little story clips between level sets. They are short and silly, but they give the game some personality that most bubble poppers just do not have. I also like that a level only takes a minute or two, so it fits into a quick break without dragging on.

Compared to other games in the genre like Candy Crush Saga or Toon Blast, Angry Birds Dream Blast feels lighter and less pushy. Candy Crush has that huge map and tons of events, which can feel like a second job after a while. Toon Blast is fun but the levels get brutal fast. Dream Blast keeps the difficulty curve gentler, and the boosters you earn actually feel useful. That is why I recommend it over those two if you just want something relaxing. It is not as deep as Puzzle & Dragons or as competitive as some match-3 titles, but it does not try to be. It is a chill bubble popper, and it does that job well.

features

  • Dream bubble mechanic 💭 - Filling the meter gives you a giant bubble that clears a big area, and it is the most fun part of every level.
  • Short, snackable levels ⏱️ - Most stages take one to two minutes, which makes it easy to play on the bus or in line.
  • Story clips with humor 🎬 - Short animated bits between level sets keep things entertaining, unlike Candy Crush which barely has any story at all.

pros

  • Gentle difficulty curve 😌 - Compared to Toon Blast, the early and mid levels do not punish you for small mistakes, so it stays fun instead of frustrating.
  • Useful boosters 🎁 - The power-ups you earn actually help clear tough boards, unlike some match-3 games where boosters feel like a waste.
  • Low-pressure ads 📺 - The ads are optional and reward-based, so the game never shoves them in your face the way some free puzzle apps do.

cons

  • Shallow long-term depth 😐 - After a few hundred levels it starts to feel repetitive, and Candy Crush offers more variety in level goals.
  • Coin hunger 💰 - Later levels lean on boosters, and the coin economy can feel stingy, which pushes you toward buying bundles.
  • Missing the classic birds 🐦 - Fans of the original Angry Birds may miss the slingshot action, since this is really just a bubble popper with the brand on top.
